Severed Feet Case: State’s Attorney Files Additional Charge 1 Year Later

ATTN: NEWS DESK

CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY IN “SEVERED FEET” MURDER CASE AVAILABLE TO COMMENT ON LATEST DEVELOPMENTS, CHARGES

September 4, 2008 (Chicago, IL) – In October 2007, a Park Forest resident, Marcus Hampton, 26, was arrested on hit-and-run charges connected to an accident that left Michael Cranston, 60, dead with legs severed below the knees. Though early speculation predicted additional arson charges – Hampton was accused of setting a car afire to conceal evidence — they were never filed. Almost a full year after the accident, a supplemental charge including arson was filed on Tuesday, September 4, 2008. This development changes the shape of the case and has drawn criticism from the defense since it affects speedy trial and demand issues. Tamara N. Holder is the criminal defense attorney for Marcus Hampton.
